Indications
- Pneumocystis pneumonia, toxoplasmosis, nocardiosis;- urinary tract infections;
- exacerbation of chronic bronchitis (only after determination of bacteriologic sensitivity to BESIPTOL-NIKA.
- Acute otitis media in children (only after determination of bacteriologic sensitivity to BESIPTOL-NIKA).
- The drug is also used for the treatment of acne, biliary tract infections, brucellosis (in combination with other medicinal products), soft chancre, infections in cystic fibrosis, caused by Burkholderia cepacia (Pseudomonas cepacia), gonorrhea, venereal granuloma (inguinal granuloma), listeriosis, pseudocholera, maduromycosis (mycetoma), otitis media, whooping cough, typhoid and paratyphoid, Whipple's disease.
Mode of administration and dosage
Dosing regimen is established individually. The drug is taken after meals, drinking enough liquid.Children aged 6 to 12 years - 480 mg 2 times / day.
In pneumonia the drug is administered at the rate of 100 mg of sulfamethoxazole per 1 kg of body weight/day. Interval between doses - 6 hours (4 times/day), duration of administration - 14 days.
Duration of treatment course - from 5 to 14 days. In severe course of the disease and / or chronic infections may increase the single dose by 30-50%.
If the course of therapy lasts more than 5 days and/or the drug dose is increased, the peripheral blood picture should be monitored; if pathologic changes appear, folic acid should be administered at a dose of 5-10 mg/day.
In patients with renal insufficiency at CK 15-30 ml/min standard dose of BESIPTOL-NIKA should be reduced by 50%.
