Indications for Use
Surgery and Traumatology: Local treatment of infected wounds of various locations and etiologies; prevention of secondary infection in granulating wounds.
Combustiology: Treatment of second-degree and third-degree (IIIA) burns; preparation of burn wounds for skin grafting.
Obstetrics and Gynecology: Prevention and treatment of suppuration of postpartum wounds and postpartum infections; treatment of perineal and vaginal wounds; inflammatory diseases of the external genitalia and vagina (vulvovaginitis).
Dermatology: Comprehensive treatment of candidiasis of the skin and mucous membranes, mycoses of the feet and large skin folds.
Venereology: Individual prevention of sexually transmitted infections (syphilis, gonorrhea, genital herpes).
Otorhinolaryngology: Comprehensive treatment of acute and chronic otitis, maxillary sinusitis, and tonsillitis.
Dentistry: Treatment of periodontitis and stomatitis; hygienic treatment of removable dentures; prevention of microbial complications following surgical procedures on the oral mucosa.
Method of Administration and Dosage
For topical use in adults.
Surgery, Traumatology, and Combustiology. For prophylactic and therapeutic purposes, irrigate the surfaces of wounds and burns with Miramistin®, loosely pack wounds and fistulous tracts, and apply gauze swabs soaked in the antiseptic. Repeat the treatment procedure 2–3 times daily for 3–5 days. Active drainage of wounds and cavities with a daily consumption of approximately 1 L of the medicinal product is an effective method.
Obstetrics and Gynecology. For the prevention of postpartum infections, use as vaginal irrigation before delivery (for 5–7 days) and, after delivery, as intravaginal tampons soaked with 50 mL of the medicinal product, with an exposure time of 2 hours for 5 days.
Treatment of inflammatory diseases of the female genital organs should be carried out by intravaginal administration of tampons soaked with the medicinal product for 2 weeks, treatment of the skin of the external genitalia, as well as electrophoresis with the medicinal product.
Dermatology. Treatment of candidiasis of the skin and mucous membranes, mycoses of the feet and large skin folds should be carried out by irrigation using the spray nozzle, pressing it 3–4 times, or by applications 2–4 times daily.
Venereology. For individual prevention of sexually transmitted infections, Miramistin solution is effective when used no later than 2 hours after sexual intercourse. Using the urethral applicator, introduce the contents of the bottle into the urethra: 2–3 mL for men and 1–2 mL for women; introduce 5–10 mL into the vagina for 2–3 minutes. After the procedure, urination is not recommended for 2 hours. Treat the skin of the inner thighs, pubic area, and external genitalia.
Otorhinolaryngology. In cases of purulent maxillary sinusitis, rinse the maxillary sinus with 10 mL of the medicinal product during puncture. For the treatment of tonsillitis and laryngitis, gargle repeatedly with Miramistin® solution. In cases of otitis, insert a tampon soaked with the medicinal product into the external auditory canal 4–6 times daily for 10–14 days.
Dentistry. For the treatment of periodontitis, Miramistin solution should be introduced into the periodontal pockets using turundas, followed by application to the gums for 15 minutes. During exacerbations, irrigate the periodontal pockets with Miramistin® using a syringe and insert turundas soaked with the medicinal product into the abscess cavity. Following vestibuloplasty and frenectomy, use the medicinal product as oral baths on an outpatient basis. For hygienic treatment of removable dentures, leave the dentures in Miramistin solution overnight. Before use, rinse the dentures thoroughly under running water.
